I wonder
as i look at the edge of the cupboard
as it encloses our private valuables
The ultimate protector of what hides inside
only to get stolen.
I wonder
how still things are
like the cold breath before
you enter deep waters
The deafness locking the senses in dark blues;
numb to the shark's teeth.
I wonder
why love cannot escape gravity.
Even when you leap, your best leap
you come back to where you are
unsuccessful.
I wonder
about the pulled drawer left open
while the papers peep out
eager to explore the world outside
only to let dust in, uninvited.
I wonder
while tapping my hands on the table
in rhythm as I write this
the betrayal of my own shadow
with a little white lie.
I wonder
where did I go wrong?
